Caring for your candles, melts and reed diffusers during periods of very warm weather is essential. Having treated yourself to something lovely, it would be a shame for it to suffer in the heat.

Caring For Candles

  • Keep candles out of direct sunlight. Extreme heat can cause them to melt or swell. In some cases wax can cover the wick - making them unusable.
  • Trim wicks before use, and keep the melt pools free of wick trimmings and pieces of matches. Basic candle care helps them last longer and perform at their best.
  • Take extra care to ensure candles are extinguished. The lighter evenings can make it harder to spot if a candle is still lit.
  • Keep candles lids on as much as possible. This keeps them dust-free and helps preserve the fragrance.

Caring For Tealights & Wax Melts

  • Store tealights in their boxes in a cool, dry place.
  • Melts are especially vulnerable to softening in heat, so keep them in the coolest spot you can find. They'll even tolerate being stored in the fridge, if your place is very warm!
  • Bring in partly burned tealights from the garden, to avoid the wicks getting damp.

Caring For Reed Diffusers

  • Reed Diffusers need a little warmth to work at their best, but full sunlight will cause the reeds to dry out more quickly. The liquid will then be drawn up the reeds, quickening the consumption overall.
  • Avoid placing them when they could be easily tipped over, such as near a fan or open window. Clear up spills immediately with warm soapy water.
